In September of 2020, one of the largest recorded fires in the Angeles National Forest, began near Cogswell Dam. It took 7 days before the fire would go over Clamshell ridge and head into the Big Santa Anita Canyon from the east. For a detailed account of what happened when the fire crawled through the canyon floor and the aftermath of the fire, click below to read the group's blog.
Our mission is to restore and maintain the trails within the Chantry Flat trail system. Our work is focused on the sustainability of these trails for the continued access by all visitors.
We will begin work on the Gabrielino/Sturtevant Trail moving up toward Sturtevant Camp. We will update as we progress through. We have other Forest Service Volunteer partners working on these trails as well. We are grateful for their dedication to our beautiful mountains. Stay tuned for updates.
